When are you open?
We are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4.30pm, and on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12noon. We are closed over Christmas and on public holiday weekends (see Calendar for dates).
Where are you located?

Who can join?
We welcome children and adults with long or short term special needs, their families, teachers and therapists, groups and schools; or anyone with an interest in special needs.
How do I become a member?
Simply come into the Special Needs Library during our opening hours and sign up.
How much does it cost to become a member?
Members pay an annual subscription of $35, running from 1st January to 31st December.
What kind of toys do you have?
We have over 3,000 specialist toys in a range of categories, listed here.
What age range do you cater for?
We have a wide range of toys and equipment suitable for all ages and stages, from birth to older persons.
How long is the loan period?
Each item can be borrowed for a period of four weeks.
How many toys can I borrow?
You can borrow up to six items at any one time.
How much does it cost to hire toys?
Toy hire charges range from $1.00 to $5.00 (based on the purchase cost of the toy).
Are there overdue charges?
Items must be returned four weeks after initial hire. After this time, an overdue charge will be incurred for each toy.
What happens if we lose a piece from a toy?
Please let us know if you are returning a toy with missing pieces. Initially a small charge per piece is made if toys are returned with missing pieces. If the pieces are unable to be located, other charges may follow.
What happens if we break or lose a toy?
Please discuss any damage to a toy with us when the toy is returned. Charges for the repair or replacement of the toy may apply.
Am I expected to clean the toys?
The Special Needs Library recognises the extra challenges that our members face on a day to day basis and therefore we clean all toys upon their return.
However, we do ask that toys be returned in the same condition as they were issued, especially outdoor toys.
How is the library staffed?
The Library is run by volunteers supported by three part-time paid staff.
